Our Approach
AREA's mandate is to work only through the direct involvement and participation of communities. We believe that sustainable development happens when communities themselves lead the process.
We focus on establishment and strengthening of grassroots-level institutions at the community, village, and Gozar levels. This means empowering local communities to come together, take collective decisions, and take responsibility for overall development.
By promoting local governance in target areas, we ensure that communities have the tools and structures to manage their own development sustainably and cost-effectively.
Community Shuras
Over 1,000 communities have developed community/village shuras with our support across multiple provinces, including dedicated female shuras.
